HIGHLIGHT: POLLY & ME

Polly&me makes luxe, hand-embroidered accessories for women since 2003. It’s a social enterprise working with around 1000 female embroiders in 19 centers across the valley of Chitral, a remote mountain region of Pakistan.
“Who’s Polly?”
“Polly” is the many skilled hands of the women who create our signature hand-embroidered cloth that adorns our handbags, clutches and wallets.
Polly&me was co-founded by two Australian sister - Cath & Ange Braid.
The mission is simple: To encourage rural artisans to utilise their traditional craft in a contemporary way, promoting self-sufficiency and dignity.
The current collection “Peace of Cake” launched at the Rosemount Australian Fashion Week, 2011. Over the past few months, “Polly” has been working with contemporary women illustrators to create bold but playful textiles for this latest collection. Keeping true to Polly’s love of story-telling, each bag tells a tale. Some textiles are inspired by the sub continent’s culture - the tree of life, growing ingredients for a curry or dolls making chai - while other images have been inspired by the region’s past - samavors, army medallions and birds of peace.
Casting the net more widely, Polly’s love of mixing motifs continues as the evil-eye, popped pinata and singing nightingale all find their home on a Polly bag.
Available boutiques are in Australia, Dubai, Beirut, Pakistan and India.
